INTERNET SAFETY: WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW?
With the introduction of Bank of St. Croix’s web site and Internet Banking service completed this year, we thought it would be appropriate to remind our customers about Internet Safety and what precautions the Bank of St. Croix has taken to protect your personal information. Internet and email scams used to steal people’s identity are at an all time high, so we would like you to be aware of the following Bank of St. Croix policies:
  1. We will never send you an unsolicited email requesting that you reply with your personal information or directing you to a web site to input your personal information.
  2. We strongly discourage you from including your personal information (account numbers, social security numbers, etc.) in email communication with us or anyone else. We also will not honor transaction requests or customer profile changes (wire transfer requests, address changes, etc.) via email.
  3. We have set up a secure email system within our Internet Banking application. This email can only be accessed once you are logged into Internet Banking and it uses encryption security. You may correspond with us freely (including the use of your account number, requests for address changes etc.) using this method only.
  4. If you suspect anything suspicious in an email from us or on our web site, please contact us immediately at 340-773-8500.
  5. We encourage all of our customers to request a copy of their credit report annually (or immediately if you believe you are the victim of fraud) by contacting one of the three major credit bureaus:
    a. Equifax: 1-800-525-6285
    b. Experian: 1-800-397-3742
    c. TransUnion: 1-800-680-7289
